Women's Results: November 2018 - January 2019

We’ve been pretty slack on match reports over the last few weeks, so here’s the rundown since the end of 2018:

25.11.18 Dewsbury Rangers 4 - 0 Republica Internationale
Tough game for Republica against long term pals in Dewsbury. Poor conditions didn’t help and despite efforts on the pitch, Republica couldn’t find their feet. Player of the match went to left back Georgia Ellis for a sterling performance in defence.

02.12.18 Tyersal 1 - 4 Republica Internationale
The women were back on winning form away against Tyersal, despite a (very) wet pitch. Two goals from Talin Aghanian, one from Molly Asher and another from Jane Turner saw Republica take home 3 points. Player of the match went to central midfielder Sam Eyeington, making her debut for the team.

09.12.18 Republica Internationale 6 - 1 Leeds City
Closing 2018 with style, Republica enjoyed their best scoreline of the season, scoring six goals against Leeds City. Jane Turner (4) and Molly Asher (2) gave the women a comfortable lead over their local rivals. Molly Asher took home player of the match after a commanding performance in midfield.

06.01.19 Republica Internationale 0 - 4 Lower Hopton
2019 got off to a rocky start, with Republica losing to league leaders Lower Hopton. Slightly rusty after the Christmas break, the women were still able to battle for the full 90 minutes, and were unlucky to concede four goals. Molly Asher once again took home player of the match for her defensive work in midfield.

13.01.19 Republica Internationale 1 - 0 Ilkley Town
After managing to keep Ilkley to a 0-0 draw with only 9 players earlier in the season, Republica fought hard for a 1-0 victory on home turf. Lorna Gledhill scored the winning goal in the 60th minute, and took home player of the match.

20.01.19 Leeds City 0 - 1 Republica Internationale
Republica continued their winning streak, playing away to Leeds City. This was a hard fought game, but debutant Alice Hoole managed to break the deadlock, scoring the only goal of the match in her first appearance for the team. Player of the match went to Natalie Mitchell for a brilliant performance in centre mid.

After 13 games this season, Republica currently stand at 4th in the First Division West Riding County Women’s Football league, with 5 games to go.

This weekend, Republica Women return to face Dewsbury Rangers on home turf, hoping to continue their good form. Kick off at 2pm, Sunday 28th January.
