Football in Um Al Khair.jpg

What happened when a group of women from Yorkshire, Bristol and Hamburg went to play football in Palestine?

We’re showcasing the film of our most recent tour to Palestine at the end of the month at Oblong (also known as Woodhouse Community Centre) in Leeds.

The film showing will be followed by Q&A with a lead activist from Hebron International Resource Network (HIRN) and players from the club.

Around the Wall: Bend it Like Bethlehem - A journey through women’s football in the West Bank

This documentary film follows a group of women footballers from the UK and Germany on the football trip of a lifetime to Palestine.

Whether playing organised matches in West Bank refugee camps or informal kick-arounds on the rock-strewn pitches of hill-top villages of South Hebron, football is the common language as cultural barriers are crossed and new friendships established.

The film's poignant testimonies highlight cultural issues surrounding local women's participation in sport as well as the struggle to remain steadfast on their homelands

Entry £3 (although no one will be turned away due to lack of funds). Food available on the night, with all donations to Hebron International Resource Centre.

Doors at 6.15pm. Film at 6.30pm - Friday September 28th

Updates will be shared on the Facebook event and on Twitter.
